Vibrating wire strain gauges are often the preferred technology for measuring in driven piles. However, residual after pile driving is challenging to accomplish using vibrating gauges. The process can cause a shift no-load reading from relaxation of locked-in manufacturing strains or gauge tension. Also, there temperature effects installing piles below ground.
